This wild tea is delicious

Identification

Mosukunjane is a local Highveld shrub. Multiply branched from the bottom up, lemon yellow leaves, rough and veiny. The flowers are carried as nut-shaped balls on the tips of each branch, with a progression of tiny white flowers arranged all round.

Harvesting

The branches can be quite tough, but mostly snaps easily. The leaves strip off easily, especially when dried. Best grown from rootstock, harvested by hard digging and much force.

Preparation

Tea. Normal tea. It smells like lemon, tastes like lemon, without the sourness. Refreshing when drunk hot or cold, with or without honey. Always good.

Uses

Much touted and commercially sold as a uric system cleanser. Definitively refreshing and perky.
